MEET NICOLAS
Library Trustee Nicolas Kiet Quach is a proud Alhambra resident who lives in the Midwick Tract.
He is a prominent community leader who serves as an Alhambra Library Trustee and a former City of Alhambra Commissioner. As a product of our local public schools, he attended Ramona & Fremont Elementary, and is a graduate of Alhambra High School. Quach attends the University of Southern California pursuing a degree at Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences.
Nicolas began his professional career working for Alhambra Mayor Sasha Renee Perez during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he organized for HERO Pay for Essential Workers, slashed third-party delivery fees for restaurant owners and local small businesses, whilst coordinating with city departments to provide constituent services throughout his career. Soon after, he was appointed as a Commissioner for the City of Alhambra working with students and young people. Most notably, as a Commission Chair, he led efforts to ban flavored tobacco products and expand no-smoking zones across the city. Quach is the Executive Director of Communications at Student Voice, a 501(c)(3) education nonprofit.
In 2022, Nicolas was appointed to the Alhambra Library Board of Trustees and later elected as Library Board President, making him the youngest Library Trustee in the United States and the only Vietnamese American on the Board. Through his oversight of the Alhambra Library, he has worked with his colleagues and staff to expand Library Programs, community outreach and provide oversight for a budget of nearly $5 million with fiscal responsibility.
In December 2024, Quach became an elected official at 18-years-old. Serving as a Los Angeles Neighborhood Councilmember, he represents Vermont Square, Exposition Park, Adams-Normandie, and University Park which includes the University of Southern California.
Quach served on the Los Angeles County Office of Education - Student Advisory Council where he represents nearly 2 million students across 80 K-12 School Districts advising a monitored budget of 25 billion. He previously served on the Alhambra High School Site Council, allocating funding and developing the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).
Nicolas Kiet Quach is an Youth Advisory Board Member for Save the Children U.S, an international humanitarian organization.
Nicolas was honored by Representative Judy Chu at her 2023 Congressional Leadership Awards as the Youth of the Year for the 28th Congressional District. Outside of community service, Nick is often enjoying local taco joints, hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains, or walking his dog, Chewy.
